One Crazy Summer

Unprecedented Events, Media Lies, and a Gaslit Public

So much has happened in America, and the world, since my last post in mid June. Normally, I try to decompress a bit during the summer since I don’t teach classes. I spend less time on politics and try to enjoy life a little more. However, this summer’s events made it impossible. Let’s recap.

In June, President Biden and former President Trump participated in a debate moderated by CNN by outside the purview of the Commission of Presidential debates. It revealed to the world what many people already knew, despite extreme gaslighting from the press and Democrats in office, that President Biden was woefully inept and has no business running the country, much less running for re-election in 2024. Despite initial assurances to the contrary, he announced on July 21st that he would step aside and endorse Harris. This announcement came 8 days after former President Trump took a bullet through his right ear, and nearly a bullet through his head at a campaign stop in Butler, PA, after a teenager was able to fire a volley of rifle shots from an exposed roof within 150 yards of the former President. All this despite being identified earlier in the day as a suspicious person with a range finder and then later when many in the crowd began yelling to law enforcement that there was a man of the roof with a gun. Just three days later, the Republican National Convention began with Trump’s opponent still being Joe Biden. Three days after it ended, his opponent was Harris. No election, no open convention, just an anointing by the elites of the Democratic party. The same Democratic Party running on Trump being a “threat to democracy.” According to famed journalist Seymour Hersch, the Obamas and high ranking members of the party threatened Biden with removal via the 25th amendment should he refuse to step aside. Anyone with common sense would tell you this course of action is the most feasible explanation of what happened, although the party and the media claim Biden did it “for the good of the country.”

In September, another assassination attempt on Trump was thwarted by a relatively new Secret Service Agent. In spite of this, the media, White House, and many democrats continue to call Trump a “threat” to the very existence of democracy. The irony of the party who paid a foreign agent to dig up false dirt on Trump, used that information to lie to the FISA court to spy on his campaign, push a false Russia collusion for years, lie about his comments at Charlottesville, lied about the Hunter Biden laptop, lied about the “suckers and losers” comment, lied about his “bloodbath” comment, lie about him becoming a dictator on day one, and support criminal and civil action against him that is patently absurd and illegal, calling him the threat. And to continue to do it after two failed assassination attempts is beyond the pale. Even my students recognize it as dangerous and uncalled for.

The media is colluding with the Harris Campaign to defeat Trump. They have lied repeatedly about Trump’s involvement in Project 2025 and have lied repeatedly about the contents of Project 2025. At the ABC debate against Harris, Trump was repeatedly fact checked by ABC, included two instances where their fact check was actually wrong, but never once fact checked Harris, who lied at least a dozen times by my count. They even let her get away with refusing to answer basic questions, such as whether people are better off with today’s economy than they were four years ago or why she has flip-flopped on major policy points such as fracking, mandatory gun buy-backs and other important issues.

The saddest part is how many people buy these lies. People who I know to be smart, reasonable people. But they believe the legacy media. They swallow what they hear on the news as the Gospel. They hate Trump to the point that even when you show them proof of the truth, they can’t accept it. That, my friends, is election interference. That is the real threat to democracy. When the media puts a finger on the scales of truth to influence the outcome of an election, that makes our elections far from the free and fair elections that should be a hallmark of our republic. This year, the media, perhaps more than ever before, has proven that they deserve the moniker given to them by Maj Toure. The. Most. Effective. Devil. In. America.
